Welcome to my Site....

Hello and welcome to my website.  I have designed this site for two reasons.  First, I am graduating from the University of Florida in December of 07 with my Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, so I am currently looking for employment starting in January.  So this sites primary purpose is so that potential employers can get a look at what I have done so far in school and elsewhere.  Second, I hope that others who stumble upon this site will take a look at what is here and find it interesting, I certainly do.  Please feel free to direct any questions to my email at KevinClaycomb at gmail dot com.

We are in the SemiFinals...

DARPA has released the 36 teams that will be invited to come to the National Qualifying event in California.  The press release can be found at DARPA's website.  We are of course thrilled to be a part of the race.

DARPA's Urban Grand Challenge 2007

I am currently hard at work on my portion of the Grand Challenge project.  We have currently already acquired our "urban" vehicle, a brand new hybrid Toyota Highlander.  So my first big hurdle is to design the control electronics to interface with the Highlanders many ECU units which already drive the vehicle almost entirely by wire already.

First Semester at UF, Projects, and Course Work.........

I am diving head first into lots of projects my first semester at UF.  Along with being the Team SubjuGator captain for the 2007 year, I will be heavily involved in the development of UF's 2007 entry into the Urban Grand Challenge that DARPA has created to develop advanced autonomous vehicle technologies.

First Place at AUVSI's AUV Competition in San Diego

Team SubjuGator has done it again, for the second year in a row.  This year I was the embedded systems team lead as well as a co-captain.  Click here to check us out on the web!!

REU 2006 has begun.............

REU 2006 - Machine Intelligence Lab - UF

On May 15th I report for my reseach position at Florida.  This will be my second year working at the MIL.  Besides my plans to work on Subjugator I intend to also explore some of my interests in sensors and control systems through a few small personal projects.  I will have progress logs and design ideas posted here soon.....

First Place at IEEE SouthEastCon 2006

So Mark Randall and I built this robot for the IEEE SouthEastCon 2006 Student Hardware competition.  WE WON.  All those late nights paid off! Click here to go directly to the page I created for this project.

Graduate School and REU at UF

I'm in!  I will be starting my Ph.D at the University of Florida in the fall of 2006.  Until then I will be working on UF's autonomous underwater vehicle Subjugator for the AUVSI competition in San Diego.  Last year I was on the project and we took first place so we have high hopes for our chances in August.
